ENERGY ASSESMENTS

US Department of Energy Collaboration between the University of Miami and PREC to provide free of charge assessments to qualified manufacturing sites and critical infrastructure. ( Hospitals and Medical care facilities).This effort is part of DoE Industrial Assessment Centers l (DE-EE-0007706).
 

Background
One of the greatest challenges in Puerto Rico economic development is the high energy cost which is more than double the average cost at the US. Under this circustances PREC is working on projects aimed to reduce energy consumption and optimize the available resources by providing energy audits. Since 2010 PREC and Universidad del Turabo has been one of the Association of Energy Engineers Certified Energy Manager course providers.

Our Team
A collaboration between University of Miami and UAGM Recinto de Gurabo (formerly Universidad del Turabo) thru the School of Engineering and the Puerto Rico Energy Center, provide free of charge energy assessments performed by a group of engineering students and professor.Currently the team has 10 students, 2 professors, 2 graduate students. Systems are analyzed using live data taken at the site and recommendations are provided according to the needs of the site.
